Vehicles in German City Found Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued substance.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.

City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior political figure stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
